Roanoke Leader
David Jefferson Kirby, aged fifty-eight years, departed this life, Oct. 10, 
1930; married to Estella Pearl Weathers March 22, 1898. Their union was blessed 
with eight sons, four having preceded the father. Deceased was a member of the 
Church of Christ for forty years. He was a constant sufferer for 18 months. But 
for the sadness of parting for a while with his loved ones, he said he was ready 
to go and was unafraid. A noble soul worthy of imitation, a devoted husband and 
father, has gone from our midst. He was a man who was ever mindful of observing 
the laws of his country, with a love for his fellowman, unsurpassed by many. As 
we mourn the loss of our dear husband and father, we carry a mind picture of a 
great man, who constantly read his Bible, with a view of understanding more 
fully the richness of the blessings of our blessed Lord, and which tends to lead 
us onward and upward till we have filled our mission on earth to clasp glad 
hands forever where no night ever comes, in that beautiful city of God.
