Lineville Headlight
In Memory of J. D. Knight. 
On April 30th death claimed Brother J. D. Knight as his victim. He had been ill 
for 18 months, bore his illness patiently and many times expressed his 
willingness to go. He was born March 26th, 1858, joined the Baptist church in 
1877, was married to Miss Martha McDonald November 13, 1879, and joined the 
Masonic Fraternity about 15 years ago, and at the time of his death he was a 
very active member of Barfield Lodge No. 784 A. F. and A. M. To all these he 
remained very faithful. Brother Knight was a good man and will be greatly missed 
in many ways, not only will he be missed in his church and lodge but in his 
community at large, He was a true citizen standing for high ideals. He was not 
only a Christian but an ideal father and husband, and anxiously looked after the 
best interests of his family. He leaves a wife, two sons, three daughters and a 
host of friends to mourn his death. He was laid to rest May the 1st in 
Christiana cemetery with Masonic honors. The great profusion of flowers with the 
host of friends spoke unmistakably the high esteem in which he was held. May the 
Good Lord guard and protect the wife and children, and may the Holy Spirit lead 
them through life and may every one of them come to meet him in glory is our 
prayer. 1st be it resolved that a copy of this obituary be sent to The Headlight 
for publication. 2nd. A copy be sent to his bereaved family. 3rd. A copy be 
recorded on the Secretary's book of Barfield Lodge No. 484 A. F. and A. M.
