All efforts to rescue her from the dread disease proved unavailing, and the end came at 9 o’clock. The deceased was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. HOLDER [William McGee HOLDER, 17 May 1855--1935, and Frances V. “Fannie” KIRBY, Oct 1858--1938], and was approaching womanhood with much hope and promise. She was greatly loved by parents, brothers, sisters and friends for her many amiable traits of character, and her untimely going away has left an aching void in many a heart. Miss Kate was a member of the Christian church and was a pupil in Roanoke College. The interment occurred at Lebanon Thursday afternoon, after appropriate services conducted by Revs. O. A. MOORE and W. P. COFIELD. As the body of the gentle maiden was laid away to rest a number of her school mates sang, “Shall we gather at the river?” ------------------------- A CARD ------------------------- EDITOR LEADER: We desire space to express our lasting gratitude to the many friends who were so faithful during the sickness and sorrow in our home. Especially do we wish to mention Drs. [William Worth] STEVENSON [28 Oct 1872--28 Mar 1949] and [J. T.] STRIPLIN [21 Jan 1871--21 Jan 1925] and Mrs. POWER for their faithful and untiring efforts to save the one whose life was so dear to us. Never have we known more faithful service than that which they so earnestly rendered. May the blessings of Him, to whose will we are reconciled, be with you all. W. M. HOLDER and Family [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 1 Feb 1911 , p.1] [Other HOLDER children also interred in the Lebanon Christian Church cemetery: Arthur C. HOLDER, 21 Oct 1892--9 Mar 1894 S. J. “Joe” HOLDER, 31 Aug 1877--13 Aug 1913]
