Anniston Star
Mrs. Nettie Deese Lane, 55, of 607 S. Wilmer Anniston died Sunday at Anniston 
Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m.
at Union Baptist Church, Randolph County with the Rev. Walker Dean, the Rev. 
Monroe Wiggins and the Rev. Rav Runyan officiating. Burial will be in the 
adjoining cemetery with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge.
Survivors include her husband; William Lane; four daughters, Mrs. Clovis McCord, 
Mrs. Debra Pate and Mrs. Patricia Pate, all of Oxford, and Mrs. Penelope Hamlin 
of DeArmanville; five sons, Thomas Deese and Wayne Deese, both of Anniston, 
Horace Deese of Weaver, Harold Deese of Wedowee, and Anthony Deese of Atlanta; 
five sisters, Mrs. Lettie Akins of Graham, Mrs. Betty Butler of Roanoke, Loyce 
Butler and Mrs. Lessie Lambert, both of Newell, and Mrs. Ivy Lambert of 
Cragford; a brother, Charlie Butler of Newell, and 20 grandchildren. Pallbearers 
will be Charles Mundy, Donnie Stillwell, Larry Dempsey, Fred Gore, Elton Akins 
and Doris Akins. Mrs. Lane was a native of Randolph County and lived in Anniston 
15 years. She was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church. The body will remain at the 
until time of services.
