The latest to be recorded is that of Mrs. H. M. MICKLE, which occurred Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George W. STEVENS, in this place. Her only other child, Dr. C. M. MICKLE, of Texas, [Heard County,] Ga., was with the venerable mother much of the time during her last illness, which was of several weeks’ duration. The funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o’clock yesterday by Rev. J. W. RUCKER, and the interment was in the public cemetery of this city. In the passing of Mrs. MICKLE one of the links is severed that bound the Roanoke of today to the antebellum past. Her whole life was spent in this vicinity. She was formerly Miss Lyddy ANDERSON, was born May 16, 1840, joined the High Pine Baptist church while a girl, was married to Mr. H. M. MICKLE Jan. 23, 1859. The latter survives her, but is quite feeble, being confined to his bed at present. The many whom the long life of this good woman has blessed will sincerely mourn her death.
