Mathews Mrs. Lucy Frances Mathews, 78 years of age, passed away at a local hospital at 5:45 a.m. on June 24. Her home was at Newall, Ala. She is survived by five sons, Lewis of Wedowee, Rt. 2, Jay of West Point, Millard of Trion, Ga., Willie of Anniston and Roy of Tampa; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Rochester and Miss Mattie Lou Mathews of Anniston, and Mrs. Izetta Evans of Newell; three brothers, Harmon (Hiram) Davis of Haleyville, Sam Davis of Wehadkee, and Henry Davis of Bowdon; two sisters, Mrs. Delie (Delia) Marchell (Marshall) of Georgia and Miss Carrie Davis of Newell; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. on June 25 from the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Monroe Wiggins and Rev. John Wilder officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, with Quattlebaum's Funeral Home in charge. Additional Comments: Lucy Frances N. Davis Mathews husband was Marion Whitaker Mathews. Lucy F. Davis Mathews parents were William Euzell and Martha Lewis Davis. Lucy F. Davis Mathews brothers and sisters were: John William Davis, Mary Elizabeth Davis Benefield, Hiram James Davis, Sophronia "Fronie" K. Davis Fincher, Samuel "Sam" Jesse Davis, Delia J. Davis Marshall, Henry Thomas Davis and Carrie Mae Jane Davis.
