Anniston Star
Mrs. Lucy Frances Mathews, 78, then of Newell, died Thursday at a Roanoke 
Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday at the Union Baptist Church with the 
Revs. Monroe Wiggins and John Wilder officiating: burial was in the adjoining 
cemetery, Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Mathews is survived by five 
sons: Lewis of Wedowee Rt. 2; Jay of East Point, Ga., Millard of Trion, Ga. and 
Roy of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters. Mrs. Nellie Rochester, Miss Mattie Lou Mat 
hews of Anniston and Mrs. Izetta Evans of Newell; 23 grandchildren and 12 great 
grandchildren; three brothers. Harm Davis of Hailville. Sam Davis of Wehadkee and 
Henry Davis of Bowden; two sisters. Mrs. Dellie Marchell of Georgia and Miss 
Carrie Davis of Newell.
