J. 0. McCollum died at his home, five miles east of Lineville. He had been confined to his bed for about six weeks with pneumonia, so his death was not unexpected to his family and friends. The deceased was born July 20th, 1868 and had spent his entire life in Clay County. on Dec. 9th 1885, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Graben, to whom were born twelve children, all of whom survive him. During this same year he united with the Baptist church at Pleasant Grove where his membership now remains. Bro. McCollum was a devoted husband, a true father and a good neighbor. He had kept the faith and left many evidence of his assurance of salvation. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for sixteen years, and at the time of his death he was a member of Barfield Lodge No. 784 A-F. and A.M. God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to remove this worthy brother from our midst. The intimate relation held by him with the members of our Lodge makes it fitting that we record our appreciation of him. Resolved: The wisdom and ability which he had exercised in the aid of our work by counsel, service and funds will be held in grateful remembrance. Resolved, That we express by this formal action our deep and heartfelt regret that we are to lose him from membership, we deeply sympathize with the bereaved family of the deceased, and we express our earnest hope that even so great a bereavement may be overruled for their highest good. Resolved, That a copy of this obituary be sent to The Headlight for publication, a copy sent to the widow of the deceased and a copy be recorded on the Secretary's book of Barfield Lodge No 784 A.
