William Curtis Meacham, 75, of 7 Campbell Crescent Dr., Summerville, died Friday, Dec. 2, at 8:30 p.m. Mr. Meacham was born in Atlanta on April 17, 1908, son of the late William Thomas Meacham and Leemaude Johnson Meacham. He was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church and a deacon for over 40 years, a former Summerville city councilman, and a retired weaving overseer at the Summerville Manufacturing Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Lou Meacham of Summerville; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Kimbrough of Birmingham; one son, Dr. Jack Meacham of Summerville; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Bailey, Mrs. Edith Adamson, and Mrs. Virginia Landers, all of Roanoke; two brothers, Olin Meacham of Roanoke and Howard Meacham of Talladega; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. from Summerville First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jack Colwell officiating. Interment was in Summerville Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were the active and inactive deacons of Summerville First Baptist Church, the Baraca Sunday School Class, and Carl Shealy.
