Mrs. Nancy Smith Messer, 89, of Piedmont, Rt. 4, died at her residence yesterday 
afternoon at 5 o'clock. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 11 
o'clock at the Lebanon Baptist Church in Cherokee County with the Rev. C. E. 
Murphy officiating; burial win be at the Liberty Church of Christ in Randolph 
County, Owens of Piedmont in charge. Mrs. Messer is survived by three daughters, 
Mrs. Berthall Hubbard of Munford, Mrs. Forney Langley of Roop Field, Ga., and 
Mrs. E. Y. Hearst of Piedmont, Rt. 4; five sons A. D., J.C., Joe, Clark and Kirk 
Messer of Wedowee; one brother, Esille Nix on of Decatur. Mrs. Messer was a 
member of the Church of Christ and had lived in Piedmont for 35 years and in the 
county for about 70 years. Pallbearers will be Willie Kimbrell, Leonard Hearst, 
Mahlan Messer, Lowell Messer, Howard Messer and Vernon Hubbard.
