Death came at 1:15 a. m. today at Randolph County Hospital, Roanoke, for Robert 
Mitchell, 18, of Wedowee, Rt. 2, who had massive head injuries in a one-car 
wreck 9.8 miles north of Roanoke on County Road 26 at 2 p. m. Thursday. The 
Highway Patrol said the car Mitchell was driving left the road and wrecked. A 
passenger identified as Hershel Holloway, 25, of Wedowee, had a leg injury in 
the same wreck.

Roanoke Leader:
Robert Mitchell, age 17, Wedowee Rt. 2, passed away in the Randolph County 
Hospital, Roanoke, at 1:15 Friday morning, Dec. 26. Robert is survived by his 
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Durell Mitchell of Wedowee Rt. 2; two brothers, Lee 
Mitchell of the U. S. Marine Corps and Marvin Mitchell of Wedowee Rt. 2; two 
sisters, Miss Rosalee Mitchell and Miss Sara Frances Mitchell, both of Wedowee 
Rt. 2. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from 
the Mt. Grove Church near Wedowee with the Rev. Mr. Horsley and the Rev. Hobart 
Murphree officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, Quattlebaum's 
Funeral Home in charge of funeral plans.
