OBITUARIES:

MRS. MARY MITCHUM

   (Roanoke)  Mrs. Mary Mitchum, age 76, of 101 Chestnut Street, Roanoke, died 
Thrursday, May 19, 1983, in the Randolph County Hospital.	
   Mrs. Mitchum is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marie Carson of Fairfax,  
Mrs. Lois Hauser of Douglasville, Ga., and Mrs. Lera Townley of Roanoke; one 
stepdaughter, Mrs. Irma Borders of Roanoke of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren and 17 
stepgrandchildren and 33 step-great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Alice Scott 
of Gadsden; and one brother, Bill Benefield of Gadsden.
   Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchum were conducted Friday afternoon at two 
o'clock from Quattlebaum's Funeral Chapel, with burial in Forrester's Chapel 
Methodist Church Cemetery.  Officiating ministers were Bobby Burroughs, Jeff 
Holder, and Tim Barnes.
   Pallbearers were Jimmy Duke, Glenn Vinson, Craig Atkins, Roger Townley, 
Stanley Vinson, and Bradford Carson.
   Quattlebaum's Brown-Service Funeral Home in charge of arrrangements.
