The Anniston Star
Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning; at 11 o'clock at Wesley's 
Chapel in Randolph County for James B. Motes age 84, pioneer citizen of the Delta 
section of Clay County who died Wednesday. The Rev. T. D. Stovall and the Rev. J. 
P. Bean officiated. Mr. Motes is survived by his widow, five sons, J. Oscar Motes 
of Alexandria, George R. Motes of Delta, William L. Motes of Woodland, Marion K. 
Motes of Lineville and Hoyt Motes of Sweetwater, Texas; and three daughters. Mrs. 
C.A. Rice of Delta. Mrs. Curtis Mitchell of Delta and Mrs. Lillian Browning of 
San Francisco, Calif.
