Wilson Brown Murphy, 73, of Newell, died Thursday morning in Roanoke after a 
lengthy illness. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at 
Jordan's Chapel, the Rev. John Parker officiating. Burial was in the adjoining 
cemetery, Dryden Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Murphy is survived by the widow, 
Mrs. Persha Murphy; two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Borden of Oxford, Rt. 7, and Mrs. 
Fairy Haynes Opelika, six sons. M. M. and W. W. of Heflin, R. C. of Scottsboro, 
H. H. of Marietta, Ga., Perry R. of Montgomery and Tom of Wedowee; 18 
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Murphy was a lifelong resident of 
Randolph County.
