E. Murphy, age 103, will be conducted Friday afternoon at three o'clock from the Wedowee Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. A. E. Doyle, officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Quattlebaum's Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Murphy died at her home in Wedowee at eight o'clock Wednesday night at the age of 103 years, one month, and seven days. She was the oldest resident of Randolph County but was able on the last Sunday of June this year to take an interest in the annual birthday celebration at her home. She was born in Heard County Georgia, on June 27, 1841, the daughter of Ephriam and Lucindie McClendon West. For 45 years she had made her home in Wedowee, her husband, John C. Murphy, having died about 40 years ago. Mrs. Murphy is survived by one son, J. L. Murphy, of Malone; one daughter, Miss Lura Murphy, of Wedowee; and many other descendants reaching to the sixth generation. Anniston Star Mrs. Mary Murphy died at her home here last night at nine o'clock. She reached the advanced age of 103, having celebrated that event June 21 this year. She was a life-long resident of Wedowee. and had resided in the home where she died for more than fifty years. During the past fifty years she had been an invalid. She was twice married. No children survive by her first marriage. A son and a daughter survive by the last marriage. She was a member of the Methodist Church for more than three-quarter of a century. Funeral services will be held at the Wedowee Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
