Nix, 67, of Route 1, Wedowee, passed away in the Lineville hospital at three o'clock Thursday morning, Sept 22. She is survived by her husband John, W. Nix; two sons: Henry Nix, of Wadley Rt. 1, and Bryant Nix of LaGrange; five daughters: Mrs. Cora Duffie, of Newell, Mrs. Ida Mae Haynes, of Live Oak, Fla., Mrs. Ethel Parker, of Heflin, Mrs. Perry Lee Higgins of Anniston, and Mrs. Retha Brady, of Birmingham; four brothers: Andrew and Taylor Craven, of Wedowee, and Albert and Henry Craven, of Nauvoo, Ala.; two sisters: Mrs. Lettie Rice, of Delta and Mrs. Frona Watts, of Tishamingo, Miss.; 26 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Nix had been married fifty years. She was a devoted mother and companion. She had been a member of the Baptist Church over fifty years and was a staunch Christian, loved and respected by all who knew her. Funeral services were held from the Bethel West Baptist Church on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Revs. G. G. Gravett, Garfield Akin, Dave Craft, and Wallace Reeves officiated. Pallbearers were J. C. Brady, Beron Taylor, Cecil Nix, Johnnie Duffie, Ray Nix, and George Rhoden. Interment was in Bethel West cemetery, Roanoke Funeral Home directing.
