Roanoke Leader
John William Nix, age 80, Wedowee Rt. 1, passed away at the home of his daughter, 
Mrs. Howard Higgins, Thursday morning, Nov. 19, at 12:45. Mr. Nix is survived by 
three sons, Henry of Five Points, Bryant of Roanoke, and Cecil of LaGrange; three 
daughters, Mrs. Ethel Ayers of Alabama City, Mrs. Howard Higgins of Wedowee Rt. 
1, and Mrs. Retha Bradley of Birmingham; 24 grandchildren; one brother, Andrew 
Nix of Louisville, Ky. Funeral services for Mr. Nix were conducted Friday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bethel West Church by Rev. Hobart Murphree, Rev. 
Wallace Reaves, and Rev. Loy White. Interment was in the church cemetery, 
Quattlebaum's Brown Service Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
