V. (King) Nix, 41, of Wedowee, Rt. 1, passed away at a local hospital Friday morning, August 8. Mr. Nix was injured while helping load a gas shovel for the highway department near Wedowee, he was rushed to a hospital but was injured to the extent that he died a short time after arrival. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Winnie Nix; one son, G. K. Nix; two brothers: Henry, of Wedowee, Rt. 1, and Bryant, of LaGrange; five sisters: Mrs. Cora Lee Duffey, of Wedowee, Mrs. Ida Mae Haynes, of Live Oak, Fla., Mrs. Ethel Parker, of Wedowee, Mrs. Parry Lee Higgins, of Anniston, and Miss Retha Hix, of Wedowee; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Nix, of Wedowee. Funeral services were held from the Valley Grove Baptist Church at 2 p. m. Sunday, August 10. The Revs. Tom Kirby, G. G. Akins, and J. P. Bean officiating. Interment was in Valley Grove cemetery, Roanoke Funeral Home directing.
