According to reports from the Randolph County Sheriff s officer, Osborne and a companion, Frazier Richardson, 71, of Wadley, were crossing the river at a point about 400 yards above the bridge, going from the town of Wadley to the site where they lived. The river level is about four feet above nor mal at the present time, and a limb may have pushed Osborne off the boat as the two men were trying to land the boat, the Sheriff's office said. Osborne fell from the boat and disappeared. Richardson fell into the water and drifted downstream about 200 yards where he was able to catch a limb and pull himself to the bank. Note: The body was recovered later.
