Mrs. Ella Pearl Pate, age 77, of Columbus, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 26, 1982, at Doctors Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness. Mrs. Pate was a native of Randolph County but had lived the past 27 years in Columbus. She was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church in this county. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. LaMerle Reese of Albany, Ga., and Mrs. Eris Kaster, Mrs. Eva Casteel, Mrs. Ida Waters, and Mrs. Myrtice Brockwell, all of Columbus; five sons, Curtis Pate of Roanoke, Sollie R. Pate of Phenix City, W.J. Pate Jr. of Albany, Ga., John (Mert) Pate of Woodland, and Donald R. Pate of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Pate of LaGrange and Mrs. Eunice Craven of Linville; two brothers, Ed Hull and Millard Hull, both of Wedowee; and 30 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Pate were held at one o'clock Sunday afternoon at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Earnest Poole and the Rev. Hobart Murphree officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Donnie Pate, Gary Pate, Bobby Casteel, Phillip Casteel, Jeffery Waters, and Tim Cook.
