Anniston Star
Services for Manuel C. Pate, 77, of Wedowee, Rt. 2, were today at Mount Grove 
Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Hodge and the Rev. Curtis Puckett 
officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of 
Wedowee in charge. Mr. Pate died Sunday at Oak Minor Nursing Home in Columbus, 
Ga. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Pate of LaGrange, Ga.; three 
daughters, Mrs. Estella Jones of Columbus, Mrs. Lois Hill of Atlanta and Mrs. 
Alice Roberts of Orlando, Fla.; four sons, Harice Pate of LaGrange, Herman Pate 
of Wedowee, Melvin Pate and Clarence Pate, both of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. 
Lillie Pol of Wedowee; 27 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and a great 
great-grandchild. Pallbearers were grandsons. Mr. Pate was a lifelong resident 
of Randolph County and a retired farmer. He was a Baptist.
