Anniston Star
The Highway Patrol reported that Eisha Pearson. Jr., 16-year-old Negro of 
Wedowee, Rt 1. was fatally injured about 1:30 a.m. today when a pickup truck ran 
over him while he and a companion lay asleep on a farmer-market road. The friend 
escaped injury.

Roanoke Leader:
Elisha Pearson, 16-year-old Negro, was killed today as he lay sleeping at the 
side of a farm road eight miles west of here. Sheriff Ralph Gunn said the boy 
and a friend had been to a movie in Wedowee and were walking home when they 
decided to take a nap. Pearson was on one side of the narrow road and the other 
boy on the opposite side. Gunn said a passing motorist 1 saw the other boy, 
swerved to avoid hitting him, and struck Pearson.
