C.) William Elmer Phillips, age 72, of Dalzell, S. C. died Tuesday, Nov 10, 1987, at the Tuomey Hospital. Born near Roanoke, Ala., he was a son of the late Fred and Mamie Crowder Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a member of Dalzell Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and was a retired farmer, an accountant for the TVA in Chattanooga, Tenn., and a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Billie Phillips of the home; a daughter, Jan Phillips Plowden of Sumter; two brothers, J. P. and Leon Phillips, both of Roanoke, AL; a sister Mary Benefield of Memphis, Tenn.; and three grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill Funeral Home, Sumter, S. C. with the Rev. Eugene Franklin officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
