Troup County GA.
Given a commitment hearing, a man listed as "Buddy" Fuller. 22, a textile 
worker, was returned to the Troup County jail late today to await trial on a 
charge of slaying Euclid J. Pike with a shotgun on the night of June 21. No bond 
amount was set by Judge John Childs who heard the case. Vollie Hester 27. state 
witness, testified he was drinking with Fuller the night of the shooting, and 
refused to pay his 25 cents share of the beverage cost. Whereupon, said Hester, 
Fuller went out, saying "I'll get my gun and settle this right now." Hester 
asserted Fuller returned and called to him to come out of the house, just as Mr. 
and Mrs. Pike were passing. Pike, related Hester, remonstrated with Fuller, who 
was quoted by the witness as saying: "Stay out of this or I'll kill you, too." 
There were further words, said Hester, then a shot was fired. Pike died of a 
shotgun wound in the chest. Mrs. Pike, the widow, and H. L. Elliott, 55, another 
eyewitness, gave similar versions of the shooting. No statement was made by the 
prisoner. Fuller surrendered to Deputy Sheriff Virg Dollar shortly after the 
slaying and has been in jail since.
