Anniston Star
Funeral services were held Saturday from Antioch Baptist Church at Newell for 
Denzill Poney, 51, who died at his home Thursday. The Revs. H. A. Smith and 
Dempsey Noles officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors, in 
addition to the wife, include two sons, Billy and Jack, and two daughters, 
Charlotte and Christine, all of Newell, a brother Fred Poney Rockwell, N. C; and 
four sisters, Miss Evelyn Poney, Mrs. Audrey Daringer ana Mrs. Mae Arnold of 
Anniston, and Mrs. Horace Allen of Heflin, Pallbearers were Etheridge Williamson, 
Mabrey Williams, Morrison Reaves, Sam Yarbrough, Elton Simpson and Grady Edwards. 
Poney, an employe of Anniston Ordnance Depot was a son of a prominent Randolph 
County physician.
