Roanoke Leader
About 10 o'clock Monday morning June 22. Mrs. Charlie J. Prescott was called to 
her eternal reward from her home in Providence community. She had been in 
impaired health for several years and suffered a severe attack five or six days 
before death came. Mrs. Prescott was formerly Miss Josie Maddox and was loved by 
her home community and others who knew her. She leaves to mourn her death a 
husband, four children, several brothers and sisters. Interment was made Tuesday 
at 11 o'clock at her home church, Providence, where she had been a member for 
many years. The rites were conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. H. Caldwell, and J. 
T. Smith in the presence of a large crowd.
