Just before the rain set in Saturday afternoon and while Mr. Robinson was still plowing in his field, four miles from town, lightning struck him and killed him and his horse instantly. A negro who was about fifty yards from Mr. Robinson, plowing in the same field, was slightly shocked at the same time, but recovered sufficiently to see Mr. Robinson and his horse fall to the ground. The deceased lived on Capt. R. W. Allen's plantation, cast of LaFayette, lie was a clever, hard-working man, and leaves a wife and seven children mourn his untimely death. His remains were carried to Lane's Chapel, Randolph County, where they were laid to rest Sunday afternoon, Rev. D. L. Parrish conducting the funeral services, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. The deceased was born and reared in Randolph County and was 38 years old. Peace to his ashes.
