Roanoke Leader
Two deaths resulted from Negro shooting affray near Dickert at noon Thursday, 
April 24. Garfield Rowe and Otis Houston were brought to the Knight Sanatorium 
following the affair suffering from gunshot wounds from which they later died, 
Rowe on Saturday morning and Houston Tuesday night. A woman is said to have been 
wounded at the same time. Louis Davenport, charged with all the shootings, is 
lodged in the county jail at Wedowee.
