He complained to the hotel keeper of being taken suddenly quite sick. A little while later he attempted to arise, but fell over dead. Mr. SCHUESSLER’s home was in Talladega, but he had business interests in Ashland, Roanoke and other points. He formerly lived in Roanoke, and served one term as mayor. Mr. SCHUESSLER was a man of affairs, but he was always genial in his manner towards all classes, which won him many friends. The news of his sad demise was a shock to this community, where he had several relatives and hosts of friends. Thursday the remains of the deceased were brought over to Roanoke, where they rested over night at the residence of his brother, Major SCHUESSLER. The following morning they were carried to LaFayette [Chambers co., AL], where they were interred [in Westview Cemetery], after services conducted by Rev George STOVES, assisted by Rev Edward FULMER. Quite a number of friends from this place accompanied the funeral party. ----------------------------- LOCAL BREVITIES ----------------------------- Mayor R G ROWLAND, of Ashland, was in town the latter part of last week, having accompanied the remains of the late R L SCHUESSLER to their last resting place. Mrs R L SCHUESSLER and Miss Lillie BINGHAM, of Talladega, returned to their home Monday, after spending a few days with Mrs M [Major] SCHUESSLER.
