TENANT [TENNANT] GOES TO REWARD ---------------------------- After a lingering illness, before which the hopes but not the efforts of physicians and loved ones fled, Mrs. John K. TENANT departed this life at her home in this place [Roanoke] at 11 o’clock last Wednesday morning, with many weeping watchers at her bedside. Mrs. TENANT was formerly Miss Lou ROBERTSON, a member of one of the prominent families of the county. She was born in Heard county, Ga., but nearly all of her long life of more than 66-years was spent in Randolph county. She was married in young womanhood to Mr. John K. TENANT, who survives her, as do five children, as follows: W. T. and C. A. TENANT, of Roanoke; Mrs. A. J. NOLES, of Atlanta; Mrs. J. J. HUCKEBA and Mrs. C. B. WRIGHT, of Wedowee. Those who knew Mrs. TENANT in her home life, where her virtues shone the brightest, greatly admired her for her many strong traits of character. She served well her family and her generation and left friends to mourn her departure wherever she was known. The remains of the deceased were carried Thursday to Wedowee, near which place the family resided for many years. At 2 o’clock in the afternoon the funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church of that place, of which the deceased was a member. Revs. W. P. COFIELD, S. L. DOBBS and F. H. FARRINGTON participated in the services, which were witnessed by a large assemblage of friends and relatives. The interment was in the public cemetery. ---------------------------- A CARD ---------------------------- We wish to express our sincere thanks to each and every one who administered to Wife and Mother during her sickness and death, also for their sympathy. Especially do we thank Dr. STEVENSON for his untiring efforts to prolong her life and Bros. S. L. DOBBS, F. H. FARRINGTON and W. P. COFIELD, who spoke so many comforting words at the funeral service. May God’s richest blessings rest upon you all is our prayer. John K. TENANT and Children. Roanoke, Feb. 6, 1911.
