PATE ---------------------------- One of the best known figures in Randolph county passed from the scene of action early Monday morning when death claimed Mr. R. S. PATE, after an illness of several weeks at his home in Wedowee. Col. PATE was about 76 years of age and served the Confederacy during four years of war, being made a lieutenant before the close of the struggle. He was a man of more than ordinary ability, and for a long while had been a member of the Randolph bar. Many years ago he represented this county and Chambers in the State Senate. He was a man of genial disposition, and many friends far and near will learn of his demise with personal regret.
