OBITUARIES:

Lila Murfee Schuessler

   (ROANOKE) Mrs. Lila Murfee Schuessler, age 82, of 206 East Main Street, 
Roanoke, died Saturday, May 16, 1987, in West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, 
after being seriously ill for several weeks.
   Mrs. Schuessler, a native of Prattville, came to Roanoke as a young school 
teacher more than sixty years ago.  Later in life she returned to the classroom 
as a teacher in the Roanoke school system.  The sixtieth anniversary of her 
marriage to J. Morgan Schuessler came this spring while she was a hospital 
patient.  Mrs. Schuessler was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church.
   Survivors include her husband; two sons, John Schuessler of Roanoke and Mack 
Schuessler of Dalton, Ga.; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Julia 
Lovett Murfee Mathews of Prattville, Mrs. Aseneth Murfee Averyt of Columbia, 
S.C., and Mrs. Dorothy Murfee Porter of Birmingham; and one brother, William 
Howard Murfee of Montgomery.
   Funeral services for Mrs. Schuessler were conducted Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 
p.m. from Roanoke First United Methodist Church, with interment in Cedarwood 
Cemetery, Roanoke.  Officiating ministers were the Rev. Rayford Etherton and 
the Rev. George Ledbetter.
   Pallbearers were Henry Bonner, Bobby Durham, Jimmy Dunn, Jerrell Hodges, 
John Landers, and Bill Landers.
   Honorary pallbearers were Dr. G.C. Ussery Jr., Mark Awbrey, Tim May, Hugh 
Stevenson, James Dunn, Fred Clardy, James Lane, C. T. Ziglar Sr., J. Thomas 
Landers, and Harold Hester.
   Quattlebaum's Brown-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
