Anniston Star
Mrs., Haley Jane Shaddix, 74, of 101 Elm St. died Thursday morning at her home 
following a long illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. 
from Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Delta with the Revs. Wiley Sprayberry and 
Fred Peslant officiating. Gray, Brown-Service Mortuary will be in charge of 
burial in Liberty Cemetery. Survivors include the husband, G. W. Shaddix; one 
son, J. E Shaddix of Anniston; one daughter, Mrs. Myrtie Brooks of Anniston; one 
stepson, Idus Shaddix of Anniston; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Annie B. Gann of 
Anniston; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Carter, Mrs. Roxie Laney and Mrs. Mattie 
Carter, all of Sand Mountain; two brothers, R. B. Duke of Clay County and Noah 
Duke of Anniston; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Active 
pallbearers will be Sardis Shaddix, Emory Shaddix, Marshall Shaddix, Marshall 
Duke, Rubin Duke and Marvin Duke. She has lived in Calhoun County for 15 years 
and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was a former resident of Clay 
County.
