OBITUARIES:

Charlie A. Sikes

   (ROANOKE) Charlie A. Sikes, age 72, of Rt. 3 Roanoke, died suddenly at his 
residence on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1982.
   Mr. Sikes was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, a retired farmer, a 
veteran of World War II, and a member of Noon Day Christian Church.
   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Eris Sikes; one son, Paul Sikes of 
Roanoke; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Janella Prince of Oneonta and Mrs. Marynell 
Green of Roanoke; three stepsons, Billy Joe Gay, Ray Gay, and Jerry Gay, all of 
Woodland; three sisters, Mrs. Montana Brooks of Lanett, Mrs. Alien Smith of 
Wedowee, and Mrs. Kathryn Alsabrook of LaGrange, Ga.; eight brothers, Howard 
Sikes, Frank Sikes, Coleman Sikes, Garvis Sikes, and Stanley Sikes, all of 
Wedowee, Guy Sikes of Oxford, Carey Sikes of Anniston, and Davis Sikes of 
Chattanooga, Tenn.; and 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services for Mr. Sikes were held at three o'clock Sunday afternoon 
at Noon Day Christian Church, with the Revs. Horace Gregory, Joe Bob Traylor, 
and Vernon Willis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
   Pallbearers were grandsons Phillip Gay, Randy Gay, Joey Gay, David Green, 
Terry Gay, Kenneth Gay, Paul Gay, and Allen Prince. 
   Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
