West Point News
J. B. H. Smedley, 67. died at his residence on the state line road in the 
Wehadkee community Tuesday after an illness beginning the first of December. 
Funeral services were held at Wehadkee Baptist church, of which he was a member, 
on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Bob Crowder, of Langdale. pastor of the church 
conducted the services assisted by the Revs. Cofield, of LaGrange. and Bradshaw, 
of West Point. Interment took place at the Wehadkee cemetery Johnson & Co. 
funeral directors in charge. The deceased was born in Troup County on Dec. 17, 
1870. He had lived in that community for the past 36 years. He is survived by D. 
B. Smedley a brother; and Mrs. Ruth Pruett, a niece: also a number of nephews and 
nieces, Mrs. Pruett made her home with him.
