Roanoke Leader
On Sunday morning, Oct. 19th, death visited our community and took from our midst 
Friday Mrs. Boney Smith. She had been very feeble for some time and was confined 
to her bed about one month before death came. She had spent all her life in this 
community and was 80 years of age. She was loved by all who knew her. She leaves 
a husband and seven children and several grandchildren to mourn her death. Her 
body was laid to rest Monday at 12 o'clock. Services conducted by the pastor, 
Rev. W. H. Caldwell, in the presence of a large crowd.
