Centralia Sentinel, Centralia  Illinois 
We were surprised, a few days to hear of the death, at Glendale Miss, Sept. 5, of 
Mr. Jeptha B. Smith, years. Mr. S. was formerly a resident Randolph Co., Ala. and 
a slaveholder, being an outspoken loyal man was to leave his home and property. 
For several months he resided in this city was much respected for his good 
character, intelligence and integrity.

Should read: Jeptha V. Smith, his burial place is unknown.
