Being endowed with natural beauty and possessed of such a pleasing personality, she made friends wherever she went. Those who knew her, loved her. At the age of 18, as Miss Effie Driver, she was married to Mr. Houston Spratlin. They lived in Atlanta for a short while and then went to Little Rock, but failing health brought them back home and for several years they occupied the little cottage on the hill overlooking what is known as Washington Lake, near Bethel East, in this county. Mrs. Spratlin tried so hard to regain her health, having spent last winter in a sanatorium at Alto, Ga., and had only been home three weeks, when she passed away. She leaves the husband, her father, Mr. B. Driver, of Hogansville, three sisters, Mrs. Dewey Melton, Mrs. Floyd Smith and Miss Virginia Driver, all of LaGrange, three brothers, John and Monroe Driver, LaGrange, and Lester Driver, Macon, other relatives and a host of friends. A very impressive funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at Providence conducted by Rev. Mr. Goforth of LaGrange, with interment in cemetery at Providence. The large crowd that gathered evidenced the popularity and the high esteem in which Mrs. Spratlin was held by her friends.
