Anniston Star
George Harrison Stephens, 88, of 224 F ST., died Sunday 3t Stringfellow Hospital 
following a long illness. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at 
Center Baptist Church in Randolph County. The Rev. G. L. Payne and the Rev. 
Alvin Dempsey will conduct the service. Burial will be in the adjoining 
cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Josie Stephens; two sons, Ray 
Stephens of Marietta, Ga., and Hugh Stephens of Anniston; four sisters, Mrs. 
Susie Crosson of Boaz, Mrs. Julia Brooks of Oxford, Mrs. Ola Jackson of Oxford 
and Mrs. Donie Smith of Oxford; seven grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be B. E. and Freddie Phillips, George and 
Winmon Buckhannon and J. C, and Buford Johnson. Mr. Stephens had lived in 
Randolph County all of his life. He moved to Anniston two weeks ago. He was a 
member of Center Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. The body will remain 
at Grav Brown-Service Mortuary until! an hour before the service.
