PATE ON DECEMBER 6TH ---------------------------- At 10:30 Monday morning Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth PATE died, after an illness of a week or more, at her home in the western part of this city [Roanoke]. She was one of the oldest and most respected residents of this section, having spent her 85 years of life in East Alabama . She joined the Baptist church in Fredonia at the age of fifteen years. In 1866 she was married to Mr. Thomas PATE, who died 23 years ago. Mrs. PATE is survived by four sons: Mr. Henry PATE, of LaFayette [Chambers co., AL]; Mr. Thomas PATE, of Wellington, [Collingsworth co.,] Texas; Mr. Robert PATE and Mr. Byrd PATE, of Roanoke. Her remains were laid to rest at High Pine [Baptist] church Tuesday morning, appropriate services being conducted by Rev. W. P. HINES. PATE, 3 Mar 1829--21 Aug 1903, her husband, Robert Wilson PATE, 28 Jan 1874--13 Dec 1950, a son, Gilbert M. “Byrd” PATE, 1876--1956, a son, George A. PATE, 12 Apr 1879--20 Jan 1914, a son, All interred at High Pine Baptist Church Cemetery; Sallie Lou PATE, 4 Nov 1881--18 Jul 1886, a daughter, interred First Baptist Church Cemetery in Roanoke. J. Henry PATE, abt 1867/68--23 Feb 1938, a son, interred in LaFayette City Cemetery, Chambers Co., Alabama.
