The Leader is again called upon to chronicle the death of one of this county’s oldest and most respected citizens, the widow of the late I. T. WEATHERS, who departed this life at her home near town last Thursday morning. She was 76 years of age, and had been in feeble health since the death of her husband six months ago. This venerable lady has lived a life that can be pointed to with pride by those who knew and loved her. She reared a large family of sons and daughters, who are honorable and useful citizens. Among the number are Captain B. F. WEATHERS, of this city [Roanoke], and Probate Judge A. J. WEATHERS. The funeral services occurred at the Baptist church Friday morning [8 Oct 1897], conducted by Rev. J. W. TUCKER, assisted by Rev. E. B. NORTON. Their words of comfort and admonition will long live in the hearts of those that mourn this, their great loss.
