Ellis Taylor, as he was generally known, was one of Randolph Countys 'most valuable citizens. No one who knew him ever needed to inquire which side of a moral issue he was on. They knew that he would be on the right side and that he would sound no uncertain voice in support of this position. For thirty-five years he was superintendent of the Greens Chapel Methodist Sunday school and faithfully served his church in that capacity and in various other ways from sweeping the floor and kindling fires to official positions of honor and responsibility. His religious activities were not confined to his own church, but his broad and generous spirit led him to serve in any good cause. Not only will he be sorely missed by his immediate relatives and his home community.
