Raonoke Leader
A negro by the name of Sam Kilpatrick was lodged in jail here Tuesday charged 
with the killing of G. P. Thornton. The killing occurred at Burke's Chapel on 
Monday afternoon of this week where a ball game was held. It is reported that the 
trouble arose over an automobile casing.

Additional Comments:
G.P. Thornton was the son of Simon & Sallie Thornton. 
No Death Cert can be located. 

Sam Kilpatrick served 2 years in prison for his murder.
