The Atlanta Constitution
Funeral services for Mrs. Velmer Thornton, of Bowdon, Ga. will be Saturday Sept. 
2, at 2 p.m. from the New Hope United Methodist Church, Bowdon, Ga. Rev. Edward 
Ducree, officiating. She is survived by one son, Willie B. Thornton; a daughter-
in-law, Mrs. Willie Ruth Thornton, one grandson, Michael Thornton, one sister, 
Mrs. Willie L. Boykin, all of Atlanta, Ga.; 2 nieces. The body will lie in state 
at the church from one p.m. until funeral hour. Interment in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, 
Newell, Ala. The family will assemble at the residence. Walker Funeral Home, 
Carrollton, Ga.
