MASHBURN OF WEDOWEE --------------------------------- Last Thursday [6 Nov 1919] morning Mr. Thomas B. MASHBURN [b. 1849], while ridin [sic] from Wedowee in a buggy with his wife [Emily GRANT, 1858--1935] en route to their home two miles south of town, suddenly fell forward dead when at a distance of a quarter of a mile from the courthouse. He seemed to be, up to this time, in his usual health. Only the day before he was in Roanoke and ate dinner with his daughter, Mrs. W. T. [Wilson Talmage] ORR. The deceased leaves a number of grown children besides the wife to lament his shocking demise. Mr. MASHBURN was an up-right man, was 69 years of age and had been a member of the M. E. Church at Midway since childhood. The funeral was conducted at this church by the pastor, Mr. GREEN, at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon. The house could not contain the people who came to show their appreciation of his life and character.
