She was the daughter of the late Mrs. Susie Adams and Windsor Todd and the wife of the late Willie Heard Veal. Mrs. Veal joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Five Points, at an early age and later united with Rehope Baptist Church, LaFayette, where she served as president of the Women's Missionary Society for several years, chairperson of the Enrollment Committee of East Alabama Union District Women's Convention, and secretary of the American Union Relief Lodge. Surviving are two sons, Arthur L. Veal of Inkster, Mich., and Carl Veal Sr. of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Dollie Winston of Roanoke and Mrs. Willie Mae Heard of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Mary K. Veal and Mrs. Georgia Veal; one son-in-law, Fuller E. Heard; three brothers, Lorenza Bailey, Windsor Todd, and Willie K. Todd, all of LaFayette; three sisters, Mrs. M. Todd Smith of Five Points, Mrs. Sara Spence of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. N.W. Reynolds of Anniston; four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. The Rev. H.L. Jones, church pastor, officiated at the funeral service. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Rehope Baptist Church. Active pallbearers were Mrs. Veal's grandsons. Honorary flower bearers were members of the church, and the Women's Missionary Society. Active flower bearers were her granddaughters.
