Funeral services for Maurine Childs Waldrop, 90, of Lineville will be at 2 p.m., 
Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Benefield Funeral Chapel in Wedowee with Rev. Gordon 
Taylor and Blair Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Dingler's Chapel 
Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Waldrop died Sunday, June 18, at Clay County Hospital in Ashland.
Mrs. Waldrop was born Jan. 31, 1921, the daughter of Charles Clayton and Zillie 
Blair Childs. She was a member of Dingler's Chapel Congregational Christian 
Church near Lineville and had been a seamstress for Higgins Manufacturing Co.
Mrs. Waldrop is survived by two daughters, Barbara (husband Larkin) Parker of 
Woodland and Betty Braswell of Wedowee; one sister, Pene Ray of Orlando, Fla.; 
two brothers, Morgan Childs of LaGrange, Ga., and Hubert Childs of Meridian, 
Miss.; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-
grandchildren. Mrs. Waldrop was preceded in death by her husband, Lessie 
Waldrop; her parents; and two sons, Benny Ray Waldrop and Bobby Gene Waldrop.
Pallbearers will be Blair Parker, Danny Braswell, David Braswell, Sonny Waldrop, 
Ben Waldrop and Brock Rice.
