Roanoke Leader
James Anderson, 20-year-old Wadley Negro, has been placed in the county jail in 
Wedowee for the slaying of another Wadley colored youth, 19-year-old Bill Walker, 
according to G. W. Reaves, Wadley police officer who made the arrest and turned 
Anderson over to the sheriff. It is reported that in an altercation last Saturday 
night Anderson slit Walkers jugular vein with a pocketknife. Walker died before 
reaching the hospital in Roanoke.
