John Larkin Waters, 78, of Wedowee, died Friday at his residence after a long 
illness. Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Morrison Chapel Baptist Church with 
the Rev. Hobart Murphree and the Rev. C. W. Wood officiating. Burial will be in 
the adjoining cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his 
wife, Mrs. Rhoda Waters; three daughters, Mrs. Mavis Pettus of Birmingham, Mrs. 
Louise Harrison of Decatur, and Mrs. Mary E. Ward of Wedowee; a son, George 
Truman Waters of Conroe, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Etta Bain of Wedowee; nine 
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body will remain at the residence 
of Mrs. Mary Ward until time of services.
