Maurice C. Waters, 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Waters, Wedowee, Ala. 
Rt. 1, was drowned Thursday afternoon at about 4:30 while swimming with a friend 
in the Tallapoosa River near Fosters Bridge in Randolph County. Maurice is 
survived by his parents; three sisters, Mrs. D. L. Pettus of Birmingham, Mrs. P. 
E. Harrison of Decatur, Ala., and Miss Mary Evelyn Waters of Wedowee Rt. 1; one 
brother, Truman of Columbus, Ga.; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Missouri 
Bain of Heflin, Ala. Rt. 1. Funeral services for Maurice were conducted Saturday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock from Morrisons Chapel, with the Rev. Hobart Murphree 
officiating. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery, with Quattlebaum's Funeral 
Home in charge of funeral plans.
